Product description

Clippers ask you to guess where the quick is and then commit. A grinder does not. It takes the nail down a little at a time, so you can stop the moment the cut face changes, and it leaves a rounded edge instead of a sharp one that catches on the sofa.

Two speed settings cover the range: the lower one for thin cat claws and nervous animals, the higher one for thick dog nails that would otherwise take all evening.

There is no blade, which removes the worst outcome of a bad clip. It will not fix a nail that has already grown into the pad, and we would rather say so.

Why a Grinder Beats Clippers

Clippers are one irreversible movement. Misjudge the quick and the nail bleeds, and your dog remembers it for the next year. A grinder removes a fraction at a time, so the decision stays reversible right up until you stop.

Two Speeds, Because Nails Differ

A cat's claw and a labrador's back nail are not the same job. The lower speed is for thin nails and nervous animals. The higher one is for thick nails that would otherwise take all evening.

Why Choose the Wagly Nail Grinder?

Clippers are faster, and that is exactly the problem: one squeeze and it is done, quick or no quick. Grinding trades a little time for the ability to change your mind halfway through.

Sharp Edge or Rounded

The Edge Matters As Much As the Length

Clipped nails come away with a flat, sharp face that catches on carpet and leaves marks down your forearms. Grinding leaves the edge rounded, which is the part you notice a week later.

Questions people actually ask

Will it hurt if I go too far?

Grinding removes a fraction at a time, so you get warning before you reach the quick rather than after. On pale nails the quick shows through as a pink core. On black nails, stop when the cut face turns chalky and grey. Go slowly and check often.

Is it loud?

It makes a steady hum, and there is some vibration in the paw, which a lot of animals mind more than the noise itself. Let yours hear it running before it touches them, and start on the lower speed.

Can I use it on a cat?

Yes, on the lower speed. Cat claws are thin and need very little taken off, and cats have less patience for being held, so plan on one or two nails per session.

What are the two speeds for?

The lower speed is for thin nails, nervous animals, and finishing an edge. The higher one is for thick dog nails that would take too long otherwise.

How often should I use it?

Most dogs need their nails done every three to four weeks. If you can hear them clicking on a hard floor, they are due.

Does this replace a groomer?

No. If a nail has already grown into the pad, or your dog has had a bad experience and will not let you near their feet, that first session is worth paying a professional for.
